I’ve also partnered with “AmpGuru” who has created an amazing Hermansson capture for the Quad Cortex. This has become my new favourite tone and has quickly replaced all my live tones going forward! Tight low end with an articulate and crispy top end.

All rhythm presets also include a new “denoise” method which greatly reduces EMI/computer noise. More detail below…

NO MORE NOISE!

Do you struggle with your guitar picking up computer noise? Or RF/EMI related noise when playing live? I’ve found a simple way to help remedy this using in built Cortex blocks. Each of the rhythm presets have this built in to the routing. While it won’t remove the noise from source (which is ideal) it will dramatically reduce the noise by a good 80-90% with out drastically altering your tone! I’ve also found this method is less intrusive to the top end of the attack (see the 3rd example below which compares a typical/normal gate setup with the my method). Notice how the noise lingers on the sustain/decay of the guitar tone where is it is tightened and cleaned up with my method. You can of course implement the idea into your own presets.

For the purpose of the examples below, I’ve name my method “DeNoiser”.

All rhythm presets use a custom 4x12 capture which I have used since Altered State. It is essentially the same IR used for War Of Being however I have this is the IR/Cab alone. My previous Quad Cortex capture was the amp+cab combined.

Preset Name Explanation

  • Hermansson Dual Rectifier (PreEQ Boost) - Scene A
    Hermansson capture curtesy of AmpGuru. Think Fredrik Thordendal/Meshuggah . Uses an EQ block to tighten the low end up and boost the amp.

    • Hermansson Dual Rectifier (Nameless Grind Boost) - Scene B
      Same as above except the Nameless Grind block replaces the PreEQ block.

    • Hermansson Dual Rectifier (Octaver) - Scene C
      Preset with an octaver. I use this tone for songs such as War Of Being, King & Juno.

    • Hermansson Dual Rectifier (Octaver & Fuzz) - Scene D
      Preset with an octaver and fuzz pedal for extra filth. I use this tone for songs such as War Of Being, King & Juno.

  • Gojira (PreEQ Boost)
    Rhythm preset using Gojira amp and PreEQ.

  • Nameless (PreEQ Boost)
    Rhythm preset using Nameless amp and PreEQ.

  • Nameless (Nameless Grind Boost)
    Rhythm preset using Namessless amp and Grind Boost.

  • Plini Milton Keynes Clean Tone
    New clean tone which has also replaced all my live clean tones. Signal to noise ratio is way better (way less hiss!), more ethereal and it just sounds better!

  • Synth Drone (Gojira & Plini Required)
    Drone tone. A background effect tone very similar to the Kemper synth tone I use throughout Sonder and War Of Being.

  • War Of Being Lead
    Lead tone, great for legato Pink Floyd style.

  • Hermansson Preset using a different IR

Please ensure you add your Cloud Cortex username in the “note” field when you add the product to the cart. Also ensure that you follow “AcleKahney” on the Cortex App. Sharing of the presets will not be possible if you do not!

The presets will arrive in the “Share With Me” tab of your profile within the app. Please allow up to 48 hours for delievery.

There will also be an option to download “TesseracT 4x12” IR. This is needed for the IR2 presets.

Gojira/Nameless/Plini plugins are required for the aptly named presets. Hermansson presets use all stock blocks except for the Nameless Grind scene.

Delivery

Due to the nature of how sharing Quad Cortex presets works, I have to send them manually. Please ensure you fill in your Cortex username correctly when purchasing. Please add “AcleKahney” within your Cortex app and please allow up to 48 hours for delivery. Can I also ask that you do not make these presets available publicly. So much time has gone into creating these! Thanks!

It’s worth noting that I have my input impedance set to 10M and my pickup height is quite high (as close to the string as possible). This will strongly effect the tone! If you find the tone a little choked, then you can try boosting the output gain on the Pre-EQ (first EQ block) to drive the amp block a little more.
